I am writing to you to appeal my recent application for housing. I am a part-time student at [school name] and am in need of housing that is close to campus. The reason for my appeal is that the apartment that was offered to me was not suitable for my needs, as it did not contain an adequate number of bedrooms or bathrooms. Therefore, I am asking that you consider approving my request for an apartment with more bedrooms and bathrooms so that I may fulfill my obligations as a student at this institution.
I have lived in [city] for most of my adult life and am familiar with its neighborhoods and attractions. I have been working as a part-time student since Fall 2018, but have been unable to afford living on campus due to the high cost of housing there. In order to make ends meet while continuing my education, I had to move off-campus into an apartment with roommates who are not always reliable or trustworthy in their obligations towards paying rent on time or keeping shared spaces clean and tidy. As such, my current living situation has made it extremely difficult for me to study effectively since many nights after work are spent cleaning up messes left behind by other residents or trying to find time
Dear [name]
I am writing this letter to appeal a decision that was made regarding my housing application.
I am a student at [school name] and have been accepted into the [program] program. I would like to live in your on-campus housing because it is close to campus, it is safer than off-campus housing, and it will allow me to focus on my studies.
My academic performance has been exceptional since I started attending [school name]. In fact, I was awarded a full scholarship for my academic performance last year. If you look at my transcript, you will see that I have maintained a GPA of 3.9 throughout my college career so far.
I understand that it can be difficult to accommodate every student’s needs, but I believe that if given the opportunity to live on campus, I will be able to continue this trend of academic excellence and make an impact on campus life as well as in the classroom.
Dear [name of person],
I am writing to you today in regards to your decision to deny my application for [unit type]. I understand that the housing market is competitive and that there are a lot of people vying for the same resources. However, I believe that my application stands out as being particularly worthy of consideration.
I have lived in the area for almost 20 years, and have been working full-time as a project manager at [company name] for almost 10 years. My wife and I have two children: one is starting high school this year, while the other is entering middle school. We both work hard to ensure that our children get a good education and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. We are active members of our community and attend church regularly. We also volunteer at our local food bank every Wednesday morning.
We would like to move into our own home because we feel it would be better for our children’s development if they were not exposed to so much noise from neighboring apartments or other people’s pets. It would also help us save money on rent so we could put more towards building up our retirement funds—we don’t want anything holding us back when we’re older!
We would love the chance
Dear [name of housing authority],
I am writing to appeal my eviction from the [address] apartment complex. I have lived there for six years, and this is the first time I have ever had a problem with the lease. My rent has always been paid on time, and I have never had any complaints from my neighbors or management.
My landlord was very upset when I told her that she could not evict me because of a mistake made by my daughter, who was visiting at the time. She told me that she would go ahead with an eviction anyway and then sue me in small claims court for damages to her property caused by my daughter’s dog. She also said she would charge me rent until she could find someone else to take over my lease.
I cannot afford to pay rent elsewhere while waiting for this case to be heard in small claims court (which may take months), nor can I afford to pay for damages caused by someone else’s dog (even though it wasn’t even mine). If you decide in favor of me, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can resolve this matter quickly and without further conflict between myself and my landlord.
Dear [name],
I’m writing to you because I am very interested in the house you have for rent at [address]. It’s everything I want in a home: it’s in a great neighborhood, close to public transportation and my favorite coffee shop. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is just the right size for me. The only thing that concerns me about this property is its price, which is much higher than I can afford.
I know that landlords are often reluctant to lower rents because they think it will make their property less desirable to other potential renters. But I think that if you lowered the rent, you’d find that people would still be interested in renting your property—especially if they knew how much they could save by living there!
If we work together on this, I think we could come up with a solution that makes everyone happy!
How to write an appeal letter for housing
Dear [name of manager],
My name is [your name] and I’m writing to request that you reconsider your decision on my housing application. I have been a tenant at [address] for the past year, and I am writing to request that you reconsider your decision not to renew my lease.
I have always been a responsible tenant. I have never had any problems with noise, cleanliness or damage to the property. In fact, I have been very impressed by how well-kept this apartment complex is and would be happy to continue living here.
I would also like to offer my own reasons for why you should allow me to stay in this unit:
First, it is important for me to point out that since moving into this apartment complex last year, I have become more involved in the community. Specifically, last month I joined a local volunteer group called [group name] and began volunteering at a local food pantry every week. The volunteers at this organization are dedicated individuals who do amazing work for the community. They are incredibly grateful for all of the help they receive from people like me who are willing to give back to their community in whatever way possible; however, they can only accept so many volunteers because they simply don’t
Dear [name],
I am writing to you today because I would like to appeal my denial of housing with your organization. I applied for [unit name] on [date], and was denied as a result of not meeting the minimum income requirement.
I understand that there are many people who have higher incomes than me and are seeking this unit, but I would like to emphasize that my family has been living in our current residence for over 20 years. However, due to our financial situation and lack of employment opportunities, we were forced to move out of our home after being unable to pay the rent on time.
We found ourselves homeless and without any place to go. The apartment complex where we had lived was torn down so that a new development could be built in its place. When we learned this news, it was too late and there was nowhere else available where we could affordably live. At first we considered living in our car or in a tent, but these options were out of the question due to safety concerns. After searching for several weeks we finally found an apartment where we could afford the rent with help from friends who generously donated money towards our security deposit so that they could stay with us while they look for jobs themselves as well
Dear [person name],
I am writing to you because I am applying for a housing voucher. I have been living in the [city name] area for the past three years, but due to a job loss and some health issues, I am unable to maintain my rent. The last time I was able to pay my rent was two months ago.
I have been looking for jobs in the area, but none of them seem to be hiring. The only work that is available are temp jobs that don’t pay enough for me to be able to pay off my bills and still afford rent.
My family and friends have offered financial assistance, but they are not in a position where they can support me financially indefinitely. My sister has offered for me to move in with her and her husband until I find stable employment, but we do not live within walking distance of each other so this would mean that I would need transportation as well as child care costs every day while she works during the day.
I am asking you if there is any way that you could help me out with this situation?
Dear [name of landlord],
I am writing to you because I recently applied for a rental home in town and was rejected. I am a good tenant, and I believe that you would be happy with me as a tenant.
I have been working as an accountant for over 10 years, and I make a great living. I’m looking for something that’s affordable and within walking distance to work. My current apartment is not safe for my son, so we really need to move somewhere where he can walk to school safely.
I know that there are plenty of families who are looking for housing at this time of year. Please consider my application again. Thank you!
Dear [name],
I am writing to you to appeal the decision made by the landlord on my apartment lease. I have been a good tenant for [number of years] and have not violated any terms of the lease. I have always paid my rent on time, and I have never been late with it. In fact, last month, when my car was in the shop and I couldn’t get to work until late in the day (meaning I would be late paying rent), I called ahead of time and asked if they would be willing to extend my deadline so that I could make up for it later. They agreed, and everything was fine—no one got upset or angry with me.
The reason why I am writing this letter is because there are some things going on right now that are making it very hard for me to continue living here. My boyfriend just lost his job, and we need to move out of state so that he can take another one (or maybe even start his own business). I’ve looked at all sorts of apartments in other cities, but there aren’t any available right now. There’s nothing else we can do but find an apartment here in our current city and hope that everything works out okay for us
